2. Overview: what data is processed

This website is a purely informational author website. It has no contact form, no comment function, no newsletter, no user accounts and no online shop. I do not use cookies, analytics or tracking tools, and I do not embed advertising. All scripts, fonts and images are loaded from this website's own server; no content is loaded from third-party servers when you visit a page.

3. Hosting (Netlify) and server log files

This website is delivered via Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA (“Netlify”). When you visit the website, the servers automatically process technical data that your browser transmits, in particular:

  • your IP address,
  • date and time of the request,
  • the requested page or file and the HTTP status code,
  • the amount of data transferred,
  • the referrer URL (the previously visited page), and
  • browser type and version and your operating system (user agent).

This processing is technically necessary to deliver the website to you and to ensure its stability and security (e.g. to detect and defend against attacks). The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure and error-free operation of the website). The data is not merged with other data sources and is stored only as long as necessary for these purposes; the retention period of server log files is determined by the hosting provider.

Netlify processes this data on my behalf as a processor. A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place. As Netlify is a US company, data may be transferred to the USA. Netlify is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and the data processing agreement also incorporates the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Further information: www.netlify.com/privacy.

3a. Domain and DNS (Hostinger)

My domain is registered with, and its domain name system (DNS) entries are managed by, Hostinger International Ltd., 61 Lordou Vironos str., 6023 Larnaca, Cyprus (“Hostinger”). When your device looks up the address of this website, a DNS request is answered, which technically involves processing your IP address (or that of your DNS resolver). This is necessary to make the website reachable; the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Hostinger does not host the content of this website.

4. Contacting me by email

If you contact me by email, I process your email address, your message and any other data you provide only to answer your inquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in answering inquiries) or, if your inquiry aims at entering into a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. Your data is deleted once your inquiry has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

5. Links to external websites

This website contains links to external websites, e.g. social media profiles (X, Facebook, Instagram), Goodreads, Amazon, YouTube, book retailers and the blogs of cooperation partners. These are plain links: no data is transmitted to these providers merely by visiting my pages. Only when you click a link do you leave my website, and the privacy policy of the respective provider applies. Trailers are not embedded but linked to YouTube.

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21). To exercise your rights, please contact me using the details above.
